What Truly Sets DDC Apart

December 20, 2016
Don Smialowicz, Chief Operating Officer

Looking back on my career with DDC, I feel so fortunate to see 15 years’ worth of experiences, interactions, and memories that have made my time here so rewarding. However, amidst all that history there are two things that stand out head and shoulders above the rest, which truly set DDC apart: our people and our clients.

There are many business leaders and management books that will tell you the heart and soul of any organization resides within its people, and there is no better example of how true that is than at DDC. Throughout the years I have had the opportunity to work with a team that has both supported and challenged me to come to work each day with a focus to try and be exceptional. I feel incredibly fortunate to look around conference rooms and walk through the halls and see the faces of people I consider talented professionals, trusted colleagues and even old friends. With skillsets and experiences that range from information technology management to social media and from politicos to creative professionals, it’s a wonderfully diverse group to work with. Regardless of background though, throughout the entire team I see a passion, dedication, and an unwavering work ethic every day that serves as a tremendous point of pride and inspiration for me.

The DDC family is also made up of our clients, and we are united by the common purpose of being the best partners we can for them. Touching nearly every major policy issue across industry sectors over the last 20 years, the work we’ve done has resulted in tremendous successes and critical wins for the clients who have welcomed us into their organizations and entrusted us with their programs. The fact of the matter is there are simply too many to point to any one of them individually, but the clients we have had the opportunity to partner with, and the results we have helped them achieve, are truly incomparable.

Many people have the aspirational goal of finding a “great” company to work for; and I am motivated every day to ensure that we are striving to meet that measure. In doing so we focus on areas like innovation, operational efficiency, and smart business strategy to help try and achieve that vision. However at the end of the day it is really those two core elements of our business—our people and our clients—that will both drive and determine our success in this regard. They illustrate our deepest core values and serve as an ongoing representation of what greatness really is.

So it is with sincere gratitude that I say thank you to every client and every colleague I have had the pleasure of working with throughout the years. It’s each of you that make DDC such a special place and a great company to work for.

Happy holidays and here’s to another 20 years.
