And Now A Word from Our Interns

August 16, 2016

As the summer months roll along and we near Labor Day, we’d like to take a moment to recognize our incredible interns who’ve worked alongside us these past few months. We’ve been lucky enough to have five exceptional students code, research, design, and write to support our efforts, and we thank them for all the contributions they’ve made over the summer.

To celebrate their contributions, we’ve asked each of our interns to share reflections on their time here. Whether adding to their applicable skillsets, contributing to projects, establishing mentorships, or developing long-lasting friendships, we hope each intern had a memorable time here at DDC.

Maria Liddane
Department: Client Relations
School: American University

“I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been mentored by Bethany Dame during my time at DDC. The organization and communication among our team is evident in the high-quality work she, Hunter, Meghan, and Kathryn produce every day for their clients. Each of them embody the thoughtful colleague, always striving to help out and work together to achieve a common goal. Overall, I can’t speak highly enough about DDC’s company culture. It’s the true blueprint of collaboration for success.”

Davis Trice
Department: Client Relations
School: University of Arkansas

davis“Simply put, DDC gave me insight into the world of public affairs that no other firm could offer. With so many departments working together to effectively solve issues for their clients, I was able to get a 360-degree view of how this industry works. Beyond that, the culture at DDC is unparalleled. The relationships I made here will last well beyond the extent of my internship because I know that everyone here wants to see me succeed. Thanks DDC for an incredible summer!”

Julia Yang
Department: Development
School: Cornell University

julia“As a software engineering intern, I’ve been able to learn a great deal of technical knowledge that I will stick with me throughout college and in future careers. Beyond coding, being able to share an office with Maria and hearing about her research has allowed me to relate the projects I’ve worked on and the impact it has for our clients. I’ve also had the chance to meet so many passionate individuals from a range of backgrounds that bring this company together. These experiences at DDC have helped me learn so much about the work environment and D.C., from tracking the best food trucks for lunch, and surviving the endless metro delays, to building effective solutions for our clients.”

Rachel Kleiman
Department: Media & Strategy
School: George Washington University

rachel“My summer at DDC has been thoroughly rewarding. One fulfilling factor of the work I’ve done is seeing press releases that I’ve helped draft get picked up by multiple websites and news outlets. My writing has become more succinct and gained efficiency in tailoring my writing style to fit the desired messages of our clients and attract attention to their causes. I am grateful for the time spent here and meeting colleagues who have passed on this valuable knowledge.”

Gintare Lenkeviciute
Department: Client Relations
School: Ulster University

gintare“Originally from Lithuania but having lived in Northern Ireland for half of my life, I wasn’t very familiar with public affairs in the US. But throwing yourself in the deep end is the best way to learn, right? Having such a supportive supervisor in Teresa Stepic (who I plan to keep in touch with even halfway across the world) meant that I was able to explore any aspect of DCC I was interested in—from the digital team to the in-house marketing department. No matter how busy, everyone at DDC was willing to let me get involved and ask as many questions as I wanted. As an intern in an unfamiliar field, this was truly the ideal situation.”
